Description
The purpose of this seminar is to provide knowledge and insights into the triangle: electorate – political parties – party system. During the seminar we will examine these three concepts theoretically and empirically and investigate the connections between them. More specifically, we will discuss themes such as patterns of electoral behaviour; alignment and re/dealignment processes; models of political parties; change and stability in the party system; candidates selection and e-voting. The seminar will focus on industrialized, democratic countries over different periods of time.

Several book chapters and articles, TBA.
Evaluation
Class participation; five critical review (short) papers; one presentation; and one research paper.
