A pass mark for Linguistics 2 (Propedeuse) or similar course.
Description
In this course we will study the structure of Present-Day English within the framework of generative linguistics. We will examine a range of syntactic constructions in detail, with the (ultimate) aim of explaining their properties. In order to achieve this aim, the course introduces some key theoretical concepts and descriptive devices.
Course objectives
Students know some important theoretical concepts and descriptive tools of generative linguistics
Students are able to apply these in the analysis of syntactic constructions in Present-Day English.

Mode of instruction
1 one-hour lecture per week and 1 one-hour seminar per week
Assessment method
One in-term written assignment (30%), final written examination (70%).
