A pass mark for Linguistics 5 Phonology or equivalent course.
Description
In this course we will consider some recent developments in phonological theory. Topics to be discussed will be drawn from feature geometry, dependency phonology and government phonology, with particular attention to their importance for the study of English phonology.
Course objectives
Students become acquainted with a particular theoretical approach to phonology, and apply this to English data.

Two-hour seminar per week
Assessment method
One in-term written assignment (30%), final written examination (70%).
