Description
This research seminar surveys various aspects of political economy, in particular the nexus between political power and private capital, and international political and economic relations. Concrete examples are given from ASEAN member states, especially Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. The survey of international political economy includes relations of ASEAN with China, Japan, the United States and the European Union. Participants choose a specific topic for in-depth study, using original data wherever possible.
Course objectives
To gain a thorough understanding of the concepts of political economy and their application to Southeast Asia today. Further training in oral and written presentation.
