Description
Irish is a fascinating but complicated language with an extensive history. This course will introduce students to the pronunciation and in particular to the basics of grammar and vocabulary of Modern Irish (the Munster dialect of the Dingle Peninsula, Co. Kerry), by concentrating on understanding and producing simple sentences.
Course objectives
Knowledge of and insight into the basic aspects of Modern Irish pronunciation and sentence structure, the ability to understand and produce simple sentences, as well as some knowledge of Irish culture.

Mode of instruction
13 weekly seminar sessions of 3 hours each.
Assessment method
Exclusively on the basis of active participation in class, including the preparation of oral assignments.
