Description
This course introduces methods that allow to deal with macroscopic systems of interacting particles (i.e. practically all substances around us). Such systems show e.g. phase transitions but can unfortunately not be solved exactly. To study these systems we discuss various approximate methods in statistical physics: virial expansion, high and low temperature expansion and mean field theory.
