Admission requirements
Description
This course is an introduction to everyday politics in the People’s Republic of China. Chinese individual opportunities, families, working environments and living conditions have seen many changes due to political and economic changes which partly reflect political decisions and partly more general forces of modernization. The course explores how the personal, the political and the economic has been negotiated in China.
Course objectives
Students will learn to understand relations between the personal and wider social and political changes in China. Their skills to do independent research and to present their case orally and in writing will be appreciated.

Total course load for the course (number of EC x 28 hours): 10 EC = 280 hours.
Hours spent on attending lectures and seminars and for preparing the literature given for each class: 100 hours
Time for preparing for the class presentation: 40 hours
Time to write a paper (including reading / research): 140 hours
Assessment method
15 % class participation
25 % presentation
60 % final paper
