Admission requirements

This course is only available for students in the BA International Studies.
Successful completion of Korean 1.

Description

This course continues to build on the skills acquired in Korean 1. Students develop further knowledge of the Korean language for everyday communication through the study of 1) grammar and vocabulary, 2) speaking and listening, and 3) reading and writing skills. The classes are structured to enable clear understanding of the rules and use of Korean language, and are centered on students’ language production in oral and written form.

Course objectives

The course objectives for this course are as follows.
1. Gain knowledge of basic (A2 level) Korean grammar, phonetic structure, and spelling.
2. Become able to produce clear sentences in Korean in speech and writing, and gain the ability to read texts and understand conversations and narrations that occur in real-life daily situations.
3. Become able to apply culturally specific aspects of the Korean language (such as politeness levels) to Korean language situations.

Attending lectures and tutorials is compulsory. If you are not able to attend a lecture or tutorial, please inform the tutor of the course. Being absent without notification can result in a lower grade or exclusion from the final exam or essay.
