This course is only available for students in the BA International Studies who have passed Russian1 and Russian 2.
Description
This Russian language course is meant for students with knowledge of the language on level A2/B1 of CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference). The course will provide students with further knowledge of Russian grammar and vocabulary usage (idiomatic approach) and aims to further develop language skills in grammar, speaking, listening, reading and writing. An important aspect of the course will be using Russian in a cultural setting. The student will learn the practical skills, which can later be used in the working environment, when going to Russia for study, internship or work. Communicative skills will be trained next to a sufficient amount of independent reading and writing. The course provides the knowledge to communicate and understand Russian at B1 level (CEFR).
Course objectives
After following and passing this course, students can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. Students can deal with most situations likely to arise while traveling in Russia or an area where the language is spoken. Students can produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest and can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

Two two hour tutorials every week
Attending lectures and tutorials is compulsory. If you are not able to attend a lecture or tutorial, please inform the tutor of the course. Being absent without notification can result in a lower grade or exclusion from the final exam or essay.
Course Load
This course will be 5 EC: 140 hrs
Total hours spent on attending lectures: 56 (= 4 hours per week x 14 weeks)
Time spent on studying: Around 8 hours per week (= 4 hours per lecture)
Other hours can be used for preparing for an exam or a presentation
Assessment method
Listening comprehension exam: 15%
Reading comprehension exam: 20%
Speaking conversation exam: 20%
Written exam vocabulary/grammar: 25%
Creative Writing/Blog: 10%
Attendance and participation in the class: 10%
The resit will be a written exam of two hours, and will test if the students have reached the end level of this semester. This exam consists of the following components:
Reading and writing;
Written dialogue;
Vocabulary and grammar.
