MA Asia Studies students: Korea Studies (120 credits); East Asian Studies (60 credits) – Korea track; and others with sufficient Korean language skills.
Description
This course aims to develop advanced level of reading competence in Korean. The course material covers various text-types from cartoons on current affairs, news articles, literary works and academic articles. Students will also have the chance to read some primary and secondary source materials written in Korean on the subject of the seminar “The Politics of Culture in North Korea”.
Course objectives
- Improving reading skills and strategies – Retaining a broad lexical repertoire – Understanding a wide range of long and complex texts likely to be encountered in social, professional, or academic life
