Description
This Master Thesis class will introduce students to the requirements and processes of writing a Master Thesis. The students will be guided through the process of designing a research project and preparing a MA thesis outline, including the practical aspects of academic writing (bibliography, reference systems).
Course objectives
Students will be able to:
a thorough knowledge of the ways of writing a research proposal and presenting it;
the necessary skills for writing a thesis:
- they will be able to analyse their research interests and formulate a pertinent research question;
- they will be able to put together a relevant bibliography;
- they will be able to come up with a hypothesis to answer these questions;
- they will be able to design a thesis proposal.

Course Load
The total course load is 140 hours (5 ec):
seminar meetings 7 × 2 hours = 14 hours;
compulsory readings = 40 hours;
assignments = 86 hours.
Assessment method
Portfolio:
take home examination;
presentation, abstract;
outline of Master Thesis.
There will be a Pass or Fail assessment. A Pass is necessary to be admitted to the actual thesis writing.
Blackboard
Blackboard will be used for assignments and communication in general.
Reading list
Readings will be provided (electronically) in class.
