Description
The aim of the course is to provide insight into maternal and child health from conception onwards around the world. Improving maternal health is one of the millennium development goals. Reducing maternal mortality is one of the goals that probably will not meet its target in 2015. During this course causes of maternal mortality in low and middle income countries as well as potential solutions will be discussed. In addition to this, pregnancy and pregnancy complications are discussed as a prerequisite for child health. Special attention will be given to maternal and child health of groups at risk for health problems such as children of low socio-economic classes and children of ethnic minorities.
