Admission requirements

Digital field techniques obtained.

Description

During the course, students become familiar with various measuring methods (Total Station, GPS, photogrammetry, laser altimetry).
First of all, the most suitable method is established while preparing the measuring work. Measurement data are acquired using various methods and processed digitally.
An independent assignment is conducted in groups in which the acquired knowledge is applied. The students keep a logbook of their work and the processed data are digitally visualised.

Course objectives

After completing the course, the student is able to

  • prepare, conduct and visually present a measuring assignment;

  • correctly (according to the requirements of KNA) process and deliver the measurement data;

  • work in a team, and complete an assignment with team work.

Mode of instruction

Practical sessions in small groups, with compulsory attendance.

Course load

The course load will be distributed as follows:

  • 38 hours of practical sessions (1,5 ects);

  • 38 hours of assignments, including literature and instruction (1,5 ects).

Assessment method

Short group report including description of methods, work and results, with the following appendices:

  • Logbook;

  • Visual representation of the measurements in the form of a figure that can be used for an archaeological report;

  • Digital data according to the required standards (KNA).
