Admission requirements
Advanced level of Spanish (C1-C2). Students with advanced knowledge of Brazilian Portuguese and a passive knowledge of Spanish (listening and reading) will be accepted, and may be expressed orally and in writing in Portuguese.
Degree: Bachelor or equivalent.
Description
This course aims to discuss and analyze the place of politics in Latin American culture. Concepts of international and Latin American theory, with special attention to the relationship between image, speech, fiction and community use. The leitmotif of the seminar is to distinguish the place of politics in Latin American literary and cinematic fiction in the twentieth and twenty-first century. More particularly, this course will focus on the redeployment of sensitivity that could generate an aesthetic and political reconfiguration.
Course objectives
a) General: stimulate theoretical abstraction and reasoning ability, comprehension and discussion of speculative texts and competition in the concrete analysis of complex examples.
b) Specific: propose a hypothesis about the tensions between politics and fiction into a work of fiction.

Full academic load: 280 hours.
Class hours: 3 hours per week.
Hours of study / reading material: 241 (7 pages per hour = 847 pages)
Hours for writing the final work: 120 hours.
The Research Master students have a higher level of most pages and theoretical demand (+ 5 pages) in the final work,
Assessment method
80% active participation in class, having read the texts beforehand. This will be evaluated in the discussion and presentation of text: 20% of the mark
Presentation of one of theoretical texts: 20% of the grade.
Written work: 60% of the grade.

Blackboard will be used to post all necessary information about the course (programme, time tables, readings, announcements, etc.) Announcements will also be posted on interesting activities ( conferences, workshops, explsitions) related to the themes that will be analyzed during the course.
