Admission requirements
Students must have a basic knowledge of Hittite.
Description
Although Hittite is still the best-known and therefore most important language of the Anatolian branch, the last few decades more knowledge has come about on the other, minor Anatolian languages (especially Hieroglyphic Luwian, Lycian, Lydian, and Carian), which has significantly increased their importance for doing linguistic research on the Anatolian language branch. In this course an overview of the grammatical structure (phonology, morphology, syntax) of these minor Anatolian languages will be given.
Course objectives
The goal of this course is to provide the students with knowledge of the grammatical structure of the minor Anatolian languages, and provide them with the working tools to do independent linguistic and philological research on them.
