In this course we will look at Second Language Acquisition from several different perspectives. We will discuss how humans learn a second language after they have acquired their native language, and the factors that contribute to either a successful or a less successful acquisition of a second language – individual influences, social influences, critical periods. Course topics include the relationship between first and second language learning, the concept of interlanguage, comprehending vs. producing the second language, neurocognitive characteristics of second language acquisition and different didactic methods.
More information about this course will be published in January.
