A pass mark for Linguistics 4: The Phonology of English (or similar course).
Description
In this course we will consider a number of recent developments in phonological theory from the perspective of the framework of Government Phonology, with particular attention to their importance for the study of English phonology.

Insight into a number of recent developments in generative phonology
Insight into the importance of data in phonological theorising
Insight into structural aspects of segments and syllables

Two-hour tutorial per week
Course Load
The course load of this course is 140 hours.
14 hours spent on attending lectures and seminars:
66 hours for studying the compulsory literature
60 hours to prepare for the exam
Assessment method
- written examination
If the final grade is 5 or less students may resit the exam.
Attendance is compulsory. Unauthorized absence will mean that you cannot take part in the relevant exam(s).
