Description
Practical field techniques will consist of 8 shifts.
Each of the shifts will cover one of the following techniques:
Setting the dumpy level, transferring a height with a levelling rod and noting down the values in the level register;
Measuring and mapping ground level elevations in a field;
Drawing (top-)plans to scale and applying archaeological drawing conventions;
Drawing (half-)sections to scale and applying archaeological drawing conventions.
Course objectives
After finishing this course, students will have mastered these practical archaeological fieldwork techniques on an elementary level.
Timetable
This course will be scheduled on Mondays and Tuesdays in block 1. Students will be divided into 6 groups. The exact timetable depends on the group to which you will be assigned.
