Description
This language course aims to develop students’ confident oral and written communication skills to an advanced level, with an emphasis on writing skills of longer academic essays as well as oral skills mindful of issues of presentation, cultural awareness, attention to register, etc. This is an interactive course in which a variety of authentic materials are used.
Course objectives
This course covers four key skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Authentic materials will be used in the development of communication skills through practical written and oral exercises (individual and group-based).

Assessment method
Weekly written contributions: 20%;
Written assessment 1: 20% (due in week 4);
Written assessment 2: 30% (due in week 6);
Oral presentation assessment: 30% (week 5).
The final mark for the course is established by determining the weighted average.
Resit
Resit for all components (project rewriting and oral presentation): 100% of final mark.
