Description
This Portuguese language course builds on the intermediate written and oral communication skills developed over the course of Portuguese 3. Topics concerning modern Brazil are integrated into language learning through an interactive programme of language acquisition.
Course objectives
This course covers four key skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, to an intermediate level. Course-book and other additional, including authentic, materials will be used in the development of communication skills through practical written and oral exercises (individual and group-based).

Attending lectures: 4 hours per week, 6weeks: 24 hours
Assessment: 3 hours
Studying Literature: 70 hours
Preparation for testing: 45 hours
Assessment method
h4. Assessment Written assessment: final exam (tests include linguistic exercises – eg. fill-the-gap exercises – and written comprehension or short composition).
Oral assessment 30% of mark (short presentation and question/answer session).
Weighing
Written: 70% of mark
Oral: 30% of mark
The final mark for the course is established by determining the weighted average.
Resit
Resit for relevant component: written exam/oral.
