Students must have taken the equivalents of Syntax 1 and Syntax 2 of the Leiden BA programme, and preferably have also taken the MA course Syntax: current issues.
Description
In this course, we trace the development of Distributive Morphology, and examine the core issues connected to Distributive Morphology and morpho-syntax – in particular, the meaning of roots in isolation and in context, the syntax of roots, as well as issues connected to the building up of morpho-syntax.
Course objectives
- Students learn Distributive Morphology from the most basic concepts to the most current issues.
- Students further learn argumentation within syntactic theory, and the application of syntactic theory to problems of morphology.
