Thesis Air and Space Law

Course
2017-2018

Course objectives
Students must write a thesis based upon dedicated research, under the supervision of a Faculty member. On finishing all the required courses that are part of the curriculum, each student has to submit a thesis of 15,000-20,000 words, plus table of content, bibliography and annexes, on a topic of their interest. The topic is to be approved by the supervisor concerned. It must address and analyse a substantive issue of air law or space law.

The thesis should not be merely descriptive; it needs to be analytical, well researched, and must demonstrate the student’s ability to synthesize the subject matter. The thesis should use an adequate methodology and ideally be of publishable quality.

Note: blended learning students have to write a slightly longer thesis (20,000-25,000 words) in order to make up for the credits granted to face-to-face students for their participation in a moot court competition. Blended learners are thus granted 13 ECTS for their thesis instead of 10.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the thesis, students:

  • are to conduct academically sound and substantial research on a topic in the area of air law or space law;

  • are to present their findings of research in writing in a clear and structured way

  • are to investigate and present relatively new and innovative findings.
