Because of changes in the curriculum of the Bachelor CA-DS, a transitional arrangement is applicable in 2017-18 and 2018-19 for the students who started their bachelor in 2017 and earlier.
These students may choose from the following options for 5 ECTS in the third year:
1. Opt for an extra free elective for 5 ECTS at level 200 or higher (see offer Elective Choices from UL in this e-guide)
The elective should fall within the areas of social sciences, behavioral sciences, archeology, humanities, economics, law, and also academic language courses (with the exception of English language proficiency courses). Subjects from other than the aforementioned disciplines can in some cases also be approved by the [CA-OS Examination Board](https://www.organisatiegids.universiteitleiden.nl/faculteiten-en-instituten/sociale-wetenschappen/instituten/ca-os/examencommissie?cf = social sciences & cd = cultural-anthropology-and-development sociology-ba). It is recommended that this optional course is requested in advance via a petition in Usis (see tab "Electives", situation 7).
2. Those who have not followed the old course Media Worlds for 10 EC, level 300 in their second year, are advised to follow the new course Media Worlds (5 ECTS,level 200). Also for this course you need to submit a Usis-petition (see the tab for the 'Electives', situation 7).
