The Leiden Master's programme in Computer Science consists of three research-oriented specialisations and two combined specialisations.

Important notes

1) From 1 September 2020, the specialisation Computer Science and Advanced Data Analytics is no longer available to new students in the Master Computer Science programme.

  • Students who started this specialisation on 1 September 2019 or 1 February 2020 change specialisation based on their chosen core components: each of Advanced Computing and Systems, Artificial Intelligence, and Foundations of Computing changes to its respective, new specialisation with identical name, whereas Advanced Data Analytics students change to Data Science: Computer Science.

  • For students who started before 1 September 2019, the programme consists of specialisation courses and seminars (78 EC in total, from the list Specialisation courses and seminars in Computer Science 2020-2021) and a Master’s Thesis Research Project in Computer Science (second year; 42 EC). You may choose to substitute 18 EC of specialisation courses and seminars by an Introductory Research Project (18 EC).

2) Students who started the specialisation Computer Science and Business Studies (Science-Based Business) before 1 September 2019 follow the follow the programme as described in the appendix of the Course and Exam Regulations 2018-2019.
