LDE Space & Society Honours Programme (Leiden-Delft-Erasmus)
Dit programma wordt alleen in het Engels aangeboden.
The Honours Academies at Leiden University, Technical University Delft, and Erasmus University (LDE alliance) present the LDE Space & Society Honours Programme for second- and third-year bachelor’s students. The programme (15 ECTS) consists of the following elements::
LDE Space Fundamentals and Interactions: series of lectures focusing on different space disciplines and how these disciplines interact with each other (7 ECTS)
LDE Space Challenge: addressing and designing a solution for an interdisciplinary space challenge, complemented by visits to space-related organisations, and enrichment sessions (8 ECTS)
LDE Space Fundamentals and Interactions
In the first part of the programme expert lecturers from the three universities, as well as invited guest speakers, introduce students to key fundamentals of the different space disciplines and explore the interactions among them. The lecture programme consists of four modules:
Space Applications & Exploration
Space Business & Innovation
Space Law, Governance & Society
Space Engineering & Technology
In each module, the lectures provide the students with the thorough insights and essential knowledge of the module’s discipline, as well as a basic understanding of the connections among the disciplines, through examples and hands-on exercises. Combined, the modules will provide a thorough awareness of the drivers behind space activities and f major global developments in the space sector. This knowledge gained during the Fundamentals and Interactions will prepare students for working on the second, practical part of the programme.
LDE Space Challenge
In the second part of the programme, the Space Challenge, students team up to take on real-life space challenges. They apply their newly acquired knowledge of the space disciplines from the Fundamentals and Interactions to a current and relevant problem faced by the space sector, which requires an interdisciplinary solution. The teams design and present novel integrated solutions for an evolving space sector.
