Admission requirements

You write your bachelor’s thesis in the last semester of your degree programme. You must have completed at least the first two years of the programme. For full-time students, this means that you must already have earned approx. 130 EC (or will do so in the near future). For part-time students this means approx. 140 EC. Following the thesis seminar is obligatory.

Description

You conclude the bachelor’s programme by writing a thesis. Once your thesis has been approved, you will receive a mark. If you wish to have an evaluation meeting with your supervisor, you can request one.
The thesis is worth 10 ECTS and must be between approx. 7,500 and a maximum of 10,000 words in length, excluding, footnotes, bibliography and appendices. Appendices should be submitted as a separate file.

Please note that the deadline to submit the topics of your choice is 20 August when you write your thesis in the first semester and 10 January when you write your thesis in the second semester.

Assessment method

Assessment

Independently written bachelor’s thesis.

The thesis will be assessed on at least the following aspects:
a. an adequate formulation and application of the research question;
b. an adequate critical analysis of secondary literature;
c. an adequate critical analysis of source material;
d. use of language, structure and design of the thesis.

You have to submit the final version of the BA thesis by e-mail to your supervisor and second reader. When doing so, you have to put the e-mail address of BAthesis in cc. If the supervisor and/or second reader request a paper copy, the student should hand in a paper copy to the supervisor and/or second reader.

Weighing

The thesis counts for 100% of the mark.
