Description

This course is a continuation of Persian Language and Culture 1 with an emphasis on more advanced grammar of Persian. In this course we will further discuss the form and the theory of Persian syntax. The vocabulary will be expanded through writing and translation exercises. The course will expand on the basic knowledge of Persian culture that students have acquired in Persian Language and Culture 1, and will address cultural aspects of Iran using advanced and academic texts in Persian.

Course objectives

The primary focus of this course is to foster a deep understanding of advanced Persian grammar principles and to expand students' vocabulary comprehensively, while enriching their knowledge of diverse aspects of Persian culture and society. By the end of the course, students will be able to read, analyse, and translate texts in standard written Persian across various subjects. Additionally, they will refine their research abilities by applying their linguistic proficiency to explore a wide spectrum of topics relevant to the Persian-speaking world, utilising sources in the target language including digital sources and archival documents, and deliver their research results in the format of an academic presentation.
