Radicalism, extremism & responses
This course will explore several forms of radicalism and extremism as well as responses to these phenomena. It will focus on the contemporary and most important forms in the Netherlands, including rightwing, leftwing, Islamic and animal rights extremism. Also patterns and forms of state and company responses are presented. The end of the course will focus on how radicalism and extremism can be studied, by the example of a local study and by having students present their research design.
Students are expected to participate actively in the meetings. By the end of the course students will do a (small) individual research ending in a final paper.
