Description
This module explores the development and usage of transdisciplinary research designs. Specifically, the course focuses on the design, advantages, and disadvantages of qualitative, quantitative, and action research methodologies to answer research problems that transcend traditional scientific disciplines like public administration, the life sciences, and economics. Case-selection strategies and common threats to internal and external validity of different research approaches will also be covered. Students will develop and present their own transdisciplinary research proposal for a chosen problem of interest and will critique each other’s work at a general concluding conference.
