Description

In this course students discuss the role of science in society, ethical scientific conduct, learn about many practical aspects of science in action, and are stimulated to think about their future career, either academic or professional.
Teaching materials such as ‘On being a scientist’ will be made available in pdf format

Course objectives

In contrast to the common contents-driven courses in physics and math, this course focuses on soft skills and personal development. More than C the course is reserved for an APS project, which is developed in groups of 4-5 students. The subject of the project can vary from writing a research proposal, preparing an educational project for secondary schools or writing part of a business plan.

The assessment is based for 90% on the group project. Additionally, there will be two small assignments and for some students the possibility of a presentation
