Admission Requirements

Specialization Course: Legal Translation I

Description

This course offers practice in the translation of a variety of legal text types, such as laws and treaties, deeds, contracts, insurance policies, writs, judgments and decrees, and legal correspondence. The texts cover the most important areas of law.
At home, all students prepare a translation for discussion in tutorial. In tutorial, two students assume the special role of discussion leader; they prepare for their task by adding critical annotations to their translation. The discussion leaders face a critical audience of fellow students, as well as a panel consisting of the tutor and two student-opponents who put to them constructive, but critical remarks and questions.
