Admission requirements
A pass for Legal Translation 1.
This course is open only to students registered for the Translation in Theory and Practice specialization.
Description
Legal Translation 2 offers practice in the translation of the legal text types studied in Legal Translation 1. For instance, we will translate some of the relevant documents in a murder trial involving an American national, the documents needed for the purchase and transfer of real property, and a judgment by the European Court of Human Rights.
At home, all students prepare a translation for discussion in tutorial. In tutorial, two students assume the special role of discussion leader; they prepare for their task by adding critical annotations to their translations. The discussion leaders face a critical audience of fellow students, as well as a panel consisting of the tutor and two student-opponents who put to them constructive but critical remarks and questions.
