In the minor Ethics, Politics and Culture: Philosophy and the Challenges of Our Time, we question the ideals and ideas that underlie our modern views on how we should live together. Many of these ideals and ideas are currently under pressure.

What is good about democracy? What does a just society look like? What can we expect from each other and what can we not expect from each other? When do we lead a good life?

The minor Ethics, Politics and Culture: Philosophy and the Challenges of Our Time offers you the opportunity to really delve into these kinds of questions. You will become extensively acquainted with the most important classical and contemporary answers to these questions and with the critical philosophical discussions about them.

We will consider the most influential ethical and political principles, theories and arguments about how we should live together. In addition, we will discuss the influence of our modern culture on these principles, theories and arguments, and the human images that underlie these views.

*Keuzeruimte 15 studiepunten

Sommige opleidingen hebben een keuzeruimte van slechts 15 studiepunten. Deze keuzeruimte kan worden ingevuld met onderdelen van een minor. Omdat een minor een bepaalde niveau-opbouw heeft, kun je niet een willekeurige combinatie van cursussen kiezen. Elke minor biedt daarom ook een keuzepakket van 15 studiepunten aan, de helft van de complete minor. Een keuzepakket van 15 studiepunten staat echter niet gelijk aan een minor en mag niet zo genoemd worden.

Studenten die de variant van 15 studiepunten kiezen volgen onderstaande cursussen:

  • Ethiek

  • Politieke filosofie

  • Cultuurfilosofie

Het staat je natuurlijk vrij om meer studiepunten te halen dan de verplichte 180 studiepunten die voor een bacheloropleiding staan. Dat wil zeggen dat je wel een 30 studiepunten tellende minor kunt volgen als je bereid bent 15 studiepunten meer te behalen dan je nodig hebt.
