Description
This course is compulsory for HAC and PSE specialization students and can be elected by students of other specializations. The course will provide an introduction and hands-on experience with specific methods of social science and humanities research as applied in Asian Studies. Students will select three methods from a total of ten. Each method will be taught as an independent module consisting of three sessions. For each module students will complete two practical assignments, either individually or in small teams. The first assignment is for practice only, the second one will be marked. Students will have to choose 1 module from the 2 modules that are compulsory for their specialization. Although students are free to choose any of the others for their remaining two modules, they are strongly advised to select methods that have a direct bearing on their thesis research.
