Education
Students must register themselves for all course components (lectures, tutorials and practicals) they wish to follow. You can register up to 5 days prior to the start of the course. The exception here is that first-year bachelor students are assigned and registered for all components in the first semester or academic year by the administration of their bachelor programme. The programme will communicate to these students for which course components and for which period the registration applies.
Exams
You must register for each exam in My Studymap at least 10 days before the exam date. Don’t forget! For more information, see the enrolment procedure.
You cannot take an exam without a valid registration in My Studymap.
Carefully read all information about the procedures and deadlines for registering for courses and exams.
Students who take this course as part of a LDE minor or a premaster programme, exchange students and external guest students will be informed by the education administration about the current registration procedure.
Mode of instruction
8 2-hours lectures (weblectures available)
8 2-hours workgroup session (attendance required)
Attendance at the workgroup sessions is mandatory. In the event of force majeure, a maximum of 2 meetings may be missed irrespective of the reason of the absence. If one is absent from a meeting at which one has to do the presentation, this leads to a deduction of 2 points from this partial mark. Arriving late (> 10 minutes) is considered absent.
Assessment method
The lectures conclude with an examination consisting of approximately 55 four-choice questions (70% of the mark).
The workgroup sessions conclude with a workgroup grade (30% of the final mark).
Compensation is allowed when exam grade and workgroup grade are both ≥5.0
The workgroup grade is composed out of two individual assignments (2x 35%) and a group presentation (30%).
In case of an insufficient workgroup grade (< 5.0), a resit may be taken for one of the two individual assignments under certain conditions. Resits are possible if the attendance requirement is met, if there is a presentation grade >5.0, and if the assignment that is not retaken is >5.0. The presentation grade cannot be retaken.
With a workgroup grade between ≥5.0 and ≤5.49, one individual assignment may be retaken if the PCHP final grade is insufficient (≤5.49).
The literature for the exam is the integral book: ‘Custom Published Book’: Introduction to Personality, Clinical & Health Psychology, Leiden University Custom Edition, McGrawHill)and the lectures slides.
The book of K. Pryor is not part of the exam.
The Institute of Psychology uses fixed rules for grade calculation and compulsory attendance. It also follows the policy of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences to systematically check student papers for plagiarism with the help of software. All students are required to take and pass the Scientific Integrity Test with a score of 100% in order to learn about the practice of integrity in scientific writing. Students are given access to the quiz via a module on Brightspace. Disciplinary measures will be taken when fraud is detected. Students are expected to be familiar with and understand the implications of these three policies.
Consultation of the exam will take place some weeks after the exam (date and location will be announced on Brightspace).
