Welcome Meeting
The welcome meeting (with lunch) for all research master students is Tuesday 1 September 2015, 11.30-12.30 in the Bestuurskamer/Board Room (1A41).
Registration for courses
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO COMPLETE YOUR REGISTRATION IN STUDIELINK BEFORE AUGUST 1 AT THE LATEST IN ORDER TO BE REGISTERED FOR YOUR COURSES!
Political Science Specialisation
In the first semester students attend two mandatory core courses (5 EC each) and two elective seminars (10 EC each).
Registration for mandatory courses
Research Master students will be registered in uSis by the secretariat for the workgroups of the two mandatory courses: ‘The Classics’ and ‘Advanced Skills’. Workgroup registration for The Classics takes place after the first collective class meeting. Workgroup registration for Advanced Skills takes place in October.
Registration for elective seminars
In the first semester students in principle follow the two seminars which are recommended for the Research Master (see e-Prospectus). Research Master students will be registered for these two seminars in uSis by the secretariat. (If you would like to choose a different seminar please consult the Institute’s Secretariat ultimately before August 12th by sending an e-mail to instituutsbureaupolwet@fsw.leidenuniv.nl.)
Public Administration Specialisation
In the first semester students attend two mandatory core courses (5 EC each) and four elective seminars (5 EC each).
Registration for mandatory courses
Research Master students will be registered in uSis by the secretariat for the workgroups of ‘Advanced Skills’. Workgroup registration for Advanced Skills takes place in October.
Registration for elective seminars
In the first semester students attend four elective seminars (see e-Prospectus). These may be chosen upon approval of the Public Administration programme director, prof. S. Groeneveld. Students must submit their choice for these four seminars by sending an e-mail to s.m.groeneveld@cdh.leidenuniv.nl, from Monday 17 August until Monday 24 August.

The Research Master programme totals 120 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) credits. Students are expected to earn approximately 30 ECTS credits per semester. One credit equals 28 hours of study, including lectures, reading, writing papers, and preparing for tests and examinations.
Examiners:
The teachers that are mentioned in each course are appointed by the Board of Examiners to conduct examinations.
The Department expects the highest scholarly effort and achievement from students. Students’ academic work will be evaluated per assignment and per course. This includes both oral and written assignments. Timely completion of degree requirements is expected.
