Education and Child Studies: Coach for Learning and Development
Welcome to the specialisation Coach for Learning and Development, which is part of the Master’s Degree Programme in Education and Child Studies. Language of instruction in this specialisation is Dutch unless English speaking students participate.
The Master’s specialisation Coach for Learning and Development is a programme in which you will learn to identify, diagnose and treat the learning, emotional and behavioural problems of pupils on the basis of scientific insights. You will also learn to evaluate the effects of the treatments used.
This master’s specialisation focuses on the link between theory, research and practice. Students learn to apply evidence-based approaches to the practice of secondary education. Coach for Learning and Development is a specialisation which prepares students to innovate and improve educational practices in secondary education, with the aim of allowing both teachers and pupils to function better.
This programme provides the interface between supervision activities for teachers and pupils. Students learn to use action plans and other instruments. They also learn to collect information in a scientifically sound manner on the use of these instruments and on possibilities for improvement. After completing the Coach for Learning and Development master’s specialisation, students will be able to resolve problems on the basis of research results. They will have learned to identify and define problems and collect data in order to establish the effectiveness of interventions in the learning and behavioural problems of pupils in secondary education.
