A comprehensive overview of the grammar of Middle Egyptian, together with an introduction to the basic vocabulary of the language.
Leerdoelen
This course provides the fundamental theoretical knowledge necessary for reading hieroglyphic texts of substantial length; thus it lays the groundwork for the course Lectuur Middelegyptisch (EG12LME).

Toetsing
A maximum of 4 (out of 39) classes may be missed with good reasons (at the discretion of the instructor).
Grading is based on the following:
Quizzes (testjes) given over the course of the semester (20%).
One mid-term examination (tussententamen) in Toetsweek A (30%); no dictionary.
One final examination (slottentamen) in Toetsweek B (50%); no dictionary.
