Description

The lectures focus on the interdisciplinary study of early human behaviour. The lectures are based on a critical evaluation of recent scientific papers. Issues to be discussed range from the use of C14-dating, site formation processes to technology, resource use, social networks and gender.

  • Understanding key-methods and issues in palaeolithic archaeology and the study of hunter-gatherer societies;

  • Ability to assess the role of archaeological data in the context of interdisciplinary studies of the past;

  • Critical analysis of scientific papers;

  • Scientific writing.
