Admission requirements
This course is part of the minor Security, Safety and Justice, taught by a lecturer from TU Delft. The course can only be taken within the framework of participation in the minor SSJ.
Description
The current society is intrinsically linked with and dependent on technology. This causes society to be in a constant state of “risk”. When we look at Security and Technology, two areas of relevant research can be identified:
a.) We have become dependent on technology in our infrastructure domains (e.g.: internet, electricity, but also the banking system)
b.) Technology is used to assess risk and to take the necessary security measures on the basis of this assessment. (e.g.: use of information systems).
Both of these areas will be addressed in the course, with particular attention to risk analyses within safety and security management. The broader idea is to envision a society where safety, security and justice questions are adequately addressed and answered.
