Archaeology in practice
The minor Archaeology in practice offers an introduction in Archaeology, and is fully taught in English.
After finishing the minor you will have gained insight in the way in which archaeological data are derived, and how these data are used to construct theoretical models.
All courses listed are part of the undergraduate programme in Archaeology. The programme consists of two parts:
An introductory part in which the methodology is taught in lectures and put into practice during an excursion and several workshops in the first semester. The final part of the practical is a 2-week excavation in the second semester.
The introductory courses are available in Dutch as well as English, since the Archaeology propedeuse (first year) is taught in both languages. The Dutch courses are taught on the same day, but in different time slots. Two specialist courses, in which regional archaeological data from two regions (Amazonia and the eastern Mediterranean region) are discussed and put into a larger theoretical framework.
