International Relations: European Union Studies
The European Union is increasingly becoming relevant on the global stage and in the daily lives of European citizens. As a citizen of the European Union, you are influenced by the European Union every day. But how much do you know about the origins and development of the European Union? How much do you know about its policies and decision-making process? Are you familiar with its main institutions? If you seek to answer these questions the Master European Union Studies (a track of the Master International Relations) is the place to get them.
For some students, a Pre-Master (40 ECTS) is required to enter the Master European Union Studies. This Pre-Master gives you a full overview of the European Union: of its history and institutions, of its decision-making process, and of its policies. In addition, it provides you with an understanding of the European Union’s increasing influence on the global stage, the role of the Netherlands in the European Union, and the influence that organized interest groups have on European decision-making.
During the academic year 2015-16, students can start with the pre-master programme in September and in February. From the academic year 2016-17 onward, students can only start with the programme in September.
Please note: you can only be enrolled for this programme if you have applied for the Master’s programme and the Board of Admissions has decided that you can be admitted on the condition that you complete the Pre-Master first. Consecutively, completion of this programme gives direct admission to the MA International Relations, specialisation European Union Studies.
