International Relations: European Union Studies
The European Union is increasingly becoming relevant on the global stage and in the daily lives of European citizens. As a citizen of the European Union, you are influenced by the European Union every day. But how much do you know about the origins and development of the European Union? How much do you know about its policies and decision-making process? Are you familiar with its main institutions? If you seek to answer these questions the European Union Studies specialisation of the Master International Relations is the place to get them.
For some students, a Pre-master (45 ECTS) is required to enter the European Union Studies specialisation of the Master International Relations. This Pre-master gives you a full overview of the European Union: of its history and institutions, of its decision-making process, and of its policies. In addition, it provides you with an understanding of the European Union’s increasing influence on the global stage, the role of the Netherlands in the European Union, and the influence that organized interest groups have on European decision-making.
Please note: students can only be enrolled for the Pre-master European Union Studies after they have applied for the Master International Relations, specialisation European Union Studies, and the Admissions Board has decided that they can be admitted on the condition that they complete the Pre-master first. The Pre-master programme can only be started in September of each academic year. Completion of this programme gives direct admission to the MA International Relations, specialisation European Union Studies.
