Education and Child Studies: Educational Studies
Welcome to the specialisation Educational Studies, which is part of the Master’s Degree Programme in Education and Child Studies. Language of instruction in this specialisation is English.
The Master’s specialisation in Educational Studies deals with the developmental learning processes of children and adolescents in regular education, covering both unproblematic development and issues which might arise. In addition, the programme also covers individual differences within this group.
Educational Studies addresses questions such as:
How do children learn to write (in an understandable manner) and do arithmetic?
What is the relationship between cognitive development, brain development and learning?
How do pupils learn in the classroom, and what difficulties might they encounter?
What knowledge is required to enable teachers to help their pupils develop in an optimal manner?
How can teachers be supported and stimulated to further their pupils’ learning?
In answering these questions, we will also look at the following:
How to deal with highly gifted children
How to use computers and internet in education in an optimal manner
Recognising when are children ready to learn independently
This master’s specialisation is aimed at students who wish to become experts in the field of pupil development. You will learn to think critically about the development of children and adolescents on the basis of theoretical knowledge and empirical research. By the end of the programme, you will be able to contribute to the design of teaching programmes at all levels on the basis of scientifically sound arguments.
